This year I decided to go all out and actually make diy costumes for the boys a. Abbas wanted to be stick man and Kassim wanted to be frog from Oi Frog!

Abbas and Kassim received £10 each from a relative to spend on anything they like.
I found them this morning sitting against a wall in their bedroom deep in conversation. They both had their crisp notes held in their hands. It turned out they were discussing what to buy with their money. It also turned out they had a list.
These are the things they intended to buy with their £10.

Abbas, conversations with you are rewarding – be it for no reason other than granting me an excuse for a chuckle.
We’ve just returned from holiday, and your papa and I are suffering the consequences of Kassim’s and your jetlag. Kassim’s jetlag is essentially just intense hunger at 1am, while I reckon, your’s gives us brilliant conversations.
At 11pm last night Papa and I were reciting the Quran – Papa was reading out loud. I came to check on you. Wide awake, and looking very thoughful, you asked me, “Mama, is Papa reading well?”
“Yes, he is Abbas,” I replied, “What do you think?”
“Hm, I think I read better. My tune is much nicer. Papa sounds like a whale. You know, like when a hump back whale sings a whale song?”
A whale song!
Papa wasn’t impressed. But he was certainly inspired. He has since started listening to a Quran recitation during his hour long drives up to work every day to improve his reading tune!
Mama, you know what’s funny? If a camel had stripes and zero humps, he would be a zebra!!!

Mama my favourite squishy thing is Kassim.

We returned from our school run this morning, having deposited Abbas safely at his classroom. Kassim rushed into the house, and starting looking around for his dad.
Me: What are you doing Kassim?
Kassim: I’m looking for papa.
Me: Why are you looking for him?
Kassim: I need him to be Mr Potato head.
As simple as that!
Kassim: Mama, I’m putting on my trousers really hardily.
Me: What does hardily mean, Kassim?
Kassim: It means it’s very hard but I’m still trying to put it on
If polices and kangaroos were a box of soil, wouldn’t that be funny?!
– Kassim, Aged 3
I’m going to jump so high that my head will bump the top of the world!
Abbas: Mama, my arabic teacher is aag-gly.
Me: Where did you hear that word Abbas?
Abbas: ***** said it.
Me: You mustn’t call her that Abbas. It may make her sad?
Abbas: I don’t call her aagly mama. I call her “teacher”.
Kassim: Mama I love you.
Me: why do you love me Kassim?
Kassim thinks about it and says: because when I’m scared I can stand beside you!
